About the Author

Edward Thorp was first known by his writing, Beat the Dealer in 1962. He is known to be one of the best hedge fund managers in the world. He is also known for being the inventor of the first wearable computer. He taught Mathematics from 1965-1977 and Mathematics and Finance from 1977-1982 at the University of California.
